For 2017, BMW have updated the R1200GS, a trendsetting machine in the 'adventure bike' segment. The 2017 BMW R1200GS Adventure's liquid-cooled boxer-twin has been tweaked for Euro IV emissions compliance and also gets a new 'judder damper' on its transmission output shaft for smoother running. The updated instrument panel now packs in more information than ever before and is easier to view, and a range of optional accessories now inlcudes a crash bar that allows cylinder protection covers to be mounted - something that many GS owners had been asking for.

There's also a new R1200GS Adventure 'Triple Black' model for 2017, which gets an all-black finish. "The central fuel tank cover, storage compartment lid and front mudguard in metallic black, together with fuel-tank side panels in dark metallic gray, give the R1200GS Adventure strikingly masculine look. Powerful technical accentuations are provided by the front and rear frame in gray, in combination with the black engine, gearbox and swinging arm," says a press release from BMW. "A new black seat, with striking GS embossment on the passenger section, rounds off the striking appearance of the new R1200GS Triple Black," it adds.

Other BMW bikes have also been given minor updates for 2017, including those mentioned for the R1200GS (Euro IV compliance and 'judder damper' on the transmission output shaft). The new R1200RT and R1200R now get gets optional banking-optimised ABS Pro and dynamic brake light, both of which work in conjunction with BMW's Riding Modes Pro option. New colours for the 1200RT include carbon metallic black and alpine white, while the R1200R is available in racing red and the R1200R Sport gets a white paintjob with blue frame. The R1200RS Sport is available in white with metallic matt gray.
