I just did my valve clearance and changed the shims. and the engine sounds like the valve clearance is too loose i can hear the light chattering noise from the engine. the problem with the valve clearance is that it seems very hard to measure the valve gap correctly with normal feeler gauges. no matter what kind of shim i put the feeler guage is always reading around .1mm seems like the rocker arm and the shim encasement gets in the way of reading the valve clearance so it seems like i need different approach to read true valve clearance. Anyone had same problem like i did? any suggestion of measuring the correct valve clearance? I've done the valve clearance again. I put the cam lobe on the opposite of each rocker arm to make sure the rocker arm has the most clearance possible and measured the gap. It seems like i need to measure hard with feeler gauges to get the correct gaps. after measuring the gaps and shimming again my bike sounds ok now. It seems like the bike doesn't really need shimming very often. my bike is 9400miles first done the valves. I think i put almost same shims as stock.
